Look Out Asimo - There is a Challenger
Asimo may like to up his game a little as there is now another contender for the "Coolest Robot" crown. Although this one doesn't have such a catchy name, he does have a better iPod streaming headphones and a much nicer colour scheme.
Actually, they simply programmed a robot called HRP-2 to perform a Japanese tea-making ceremony. HRP-2 is made by a Japanese company Kawada Industries and is quite widely used for research purposes. For example, check out clips of HRP-2 performing different tasks at Japan's AIST here. These include helping someone carry a table, walking over uneven terrain and helping to apply a panel to a wall. The above video clip shows HRP-2 performing a traditional Japanese dance, and various other tasks, with remarkable speed and grace.
They will take our Earth away from us! You've seen Terminator, right? It's comming!
And the American Ministry of Defence recently launched the Worlds most advanced military communications satellite called, get this, Skynet 5. Aaaargh! Did they not see the movie? Does that bloke over there with stiff joints look a bit like Arnie? Oh my ..
