Take some responsibility people, please!

Now, some will read this and think "glass houses,stones, throwing etc" and they would be right but ..
Aparently they are thinking of banning adverts for alcoholic beverages now!
So, smoking advertising was banned, soft drink/sweet adverts are banned from reaching the people (kids) it was aimed at and now they want to stop alcohol ads. The reason is (as it appears to me, anyway) that people can't stop doing things that are bad for them on their own and need legislation to stop them! What happened to freedom of choice (within the law, of course, ahem)?
So, do we get the choice or are we having it made for us? It seems to me that our choices are becoming less and less as governments and various other forms of "leadership" take things into their own hands to "keep an eye on us poor commoners" and prevent us from excess!
