Cool Animated Video

Had to just put this up, it's so cool. Very excellent animation by a German chap who's name I don't have but all credit to some amazing and imaginative CGI programming. Probably took a little while to do as well!
There is no mention of the original creator, which is a bit crap as it must have been quite a project and I think he should be aknowledged. So if anyone knows who he is, let me know and I'll put it in lights!!
Great stuff!

At Last, a Small Piece of Justice - Ha! Ha!

Clive Goodman

The Guardian

The editor of the News of the World fell on his sword last night after one of his journalists was jailed for illegally eavesdropping on hundreds of private phone messages relating to the royal family.
Andy Coulson resigned after taking "ultimate responsibility" for the actions of royal reporter Clive Goodman, who was yesterday sentenced to four months in prison. Goodman admitted to colluding with a freelance investigator, who had a six-figure contract with the paper, to intercept more than 600 mobile phone messages left for three senior officials in the royal household. Last night he was replaced by former Daily Mirror editor Colin Myler

The abrupt departure of the editor of Britain's biggest selling tabloid, combined with the harsh light shone on the practices of tabloid journalists by the case, will increase pressure on the Press Complaints Commission to rein in the perceived excesses of some of its members.

Max Clifford, the publicist who was one of those targeted, said last night the practice was rife among "dozens" of journalists and predicted the case could prove a watershed moment.

Coulson resigned two weeks ago but it was only announced last night after Goodman was sentenced. "His [Goodman's] actions were entirely wrong and I deeply regret that they happened on my watch," he said. "I also feel strongly that when the News of the World calls those in public life to account on behalf of its readers, it must have its own house in order."

>

Hmmm, it's own house in order?! Surely that must be the worlds biggest oxymoron? The News of the World and "in order"!!!

Oh how pleased I am! Har di har bloody har har!

That newspaper and all it's sleazy variants and sister papers have been long in need of some serious slapping about the head! Although this is not anywhere near enough slapping, at least it's a start.
I am always sickened at the pond scum reporting that these red tops employ and the way they "get" people. If the police used any of their techniques it would be labeled entrapment at the very least. I am not one to want more laws to control people, and freedom of speech (what's left of it!), it is a very precious thing that we in the west are fortunate enough to have (mostly) but these below despicable reporters and their editors need to be brought up very sharp indeed! Also the general public are a bit of a let down buying this expensive toilet paper, do they not see it? It's amazing that The Sun and News of the World are the best selling tabloid papers in the UK and no real wonder that your average Joe has no idea what's really going on in the World. Stop buying this sh*te and get some more realistic and balanced news in your life from other slightly less biased pools of wisdom.
Rupert Murdoch has a lot to answer for. (Bloody Aussies, not content with the just the Cricket!)

Now - How it's Made - The Guitar

After making your strings, you might want one of these ..

Always interesting to see how something is made and obviously, something you use quite a bit and never knew!

How it's Made - Guitar Strings

Here's an interesting little piece on how they make guitar strings. Probably only interesting to those of you who are involved with guitar strings but hey, give it a chance. More goes into making them than you may have imagined at first glance. Enjoy!

Asimo back on it's feet!

Ok, so I fell over, what of it? Watch this then ..

It's good to see Asimo has not suffered permanent dysfunction from it's earlier outing down (and nearly up) those stairs! Here it is doing a bit of running and looking good! Bless. I do hope at some point, it gets to have it's own personality and autonomous operation without just being a pre-programmed exercise but I don't think artificial intelligence is far enough advanced to be able to cope with all that is going on in the world of Asimo. Very creepy to watch something that is obviously inanimate behaving very lifelike. Anyway, it's nice to see it's still OK after those nasty accidents with stairs (just like getting home after the pub!).

Very Cool SpiderBot Type Thingy

Roboquad has four legs and it can move in all directions at 3 different speeds. It is specifically designed for high maneuverability. Roboquad is equipped with a steerable head that houses infrared sensors used for constructing spatial models of the robot’s surrounding environment. WowWee claims that their new robot can detect movement at distances larger than 10 feet and environment features such as doorway edges. So, here is a very short video of Roboquad in action (well, when I say action .. )

Just thought you might like this little robot type thingy not sure what else it does but it looks good! Marketed by Wowwee. What a great name for a company! They do the Robosapien and
Roboraptor robots so as you can imagine, they will be good fun and well made. Might be a bit scarey for younger kids (or the dog, if you are that cruel!) but otherwise a cool gadget!

Happy New Year!

The Japan Organization for the Promotion of Renewable Energy has created the ultimate way to keep cool this erm, winter. They’ve put a solar panel on top of a cap, then attached it to a fan that’s been stuck in a hole on the front. The sunnier it is, the more the fan will cool you down. At the low price of 2000 yen (£8.68/$16.93), the association expect it to be a big hit in Tokyo this summer!

Not bad eh? Looking well cool down the pub on those balmy summer evenings (and lunchtimes!).

Happy New Year to all who may read this (that's both of you then, Larry and Malcy!)
Here's to an interesting new year filled with happy supprises and good fortunes (we hope).
