Friday - at last!!

Doesn't time fly when you're having fun? Goodness me it does. That's another week of life gone by in the blink of an eye! It's true what they say, time does go much faster when you get older! Anyway, before going down that slippery road to depression ..
Gig tonight at Offley club - whoopie! Well it should be ok, we know most of the people and it's not a long night (depending on the after-gig jam session and drunken musicians and their ability to remain upright!). Right then, off to the weekend we go with a jolly song in our hearts, a skip in our step and a gleam in our eye (b*ll*cks!).
Have a great weekend - back soon ..

Gig - GOP

Hello again.
For anyone interested and living in the surrounding area, the Giraffes of Prague are playing at the Swan in Markyate (near Dunstable) this coming Saturday 30th September. Do come along and have a good time with us. The gig is also noted on the GOP blog (see links on right). Should be a great evening, it uaually is! Starting about 8 in the evening and finishing when we run out of songs (about 8:15 then - just kidding). I'm also playing at Offley club (a small village between Luton and Hitchin) on Friday but that is a private affair so no need to worry about that one. I believe it's someones birthday party, again, should be fun! I think there's a bit of a jam going on with some of the Bluegrass boys afterwards. I do enjoy a bit of Bluegrass. What a fantastic style of music and very much underrated and almost unheard of in this country, shame, it's good! All that banjo pickin' and stuff. Yeeehaw!
Back soon ..

Cheerful? Me?

Well, I've got to Wednesday this week, without crying about Tuesday, so, that's an indication of just how busy I've been eh? Not much to report really, the birds are singing, the sun is out and life is wonderful .. Ha! Fooled you! You thought I was going to be all cheerful didn't you? I am really, it just seemed like a good joke that's all. I thought I would post a much better looking human being than myself this time and as you can see it is the highly delightful and cute Miss Kylie Minogue who we all hope is continuing to do well and enjoy life. Indeed, I hope all of us continue to do well and enjoy life, that would be good eh?

UFO

Hiya

First off - Good to hear that "Hamster" is getting better. We'll keep everything crossed that things continue in that direction. If you didn't read the previous post then that might sound a bit strange, it is, of course, Richard Hammond. He of the "Lets see if I can make this fly, oh yes .. oh no!" school of driving ethics! Now we have all the people who think they know best out in force saying Top Gear should be pulled, these stunts are too dangerous. Well, yes they are dangerous but surely that is the point? If it was easy and safe then it would be completely pointless. There has to be a challenge, a risk, a sense of danger, that is what the human race does to know it is alive. Goodness me, if everything in this world was "safe" we might as well curl up and die right now! I'm quite sure that all involved were aware of the risks and made their choices, what we don't need is these people, who think they are better placed to judge what we, as free(?) individual human beings can and can't do with our own lives. This is of course, taking into account not involving choices that put other people in danger or harms way. If we get any more wrapped up in cotton wool by these Health and Safety quangos, commitees and pressure groups life will be soooo dull we'll all die of boredom. That's why a lot of kids go joyriding, our society has ignored them by giving them nothing of any challenge or consiquence to do but hang around on street corners looking for cheap thrills. Whatever happened to the kids of today? They were betrayed by the carelessness of the older generation. All the new pc liberal style attidudes have gone a long way to re-enforcing this by taking away any sense of responsibilty from them, so, not only are they bored but no-one can touch them if they want to seek their thrills in an anti-social way. I am not saying that this accounts for all criminal behaviour in kids (or adults) but it surely can't help? Anyway, enough now.

I really wanted to talk about ufo's but I've worn myself out with that little rant type thingy! I'll get back to you on that later ..

Richard Hammond

Just a quick post to wish Richard Hammond a full and speedy recovery from his 300mph rocket fired crash! Another one of those enthusiastic, lively and likeable personalities. Come on Richard, get well, Top Gear just won't be anything like as good without you!
A crash at 300mph can't do you any good so don't try this at home kids!

Heeeere's Tuesday!

Hello people.
Welcome to your Tuesday, mines crap, hope yours is good - but I doubt it! As Talking Heads once said, very eloquently, "We're on the road to nowhere", they must have written that on a Tuesday. It's a very underestimated day, as far as being a crap day is concerned anyway! Ok, that's enough of Tuesday, I'm giving it far too much attention and it really doesn't deserve it!

I thought that as I had posted a picture of my new young bird, I would post a picture of my old bird, because she deserves the recognition and respect garnered over 14 years of putting up with me. I do hope she enjoyed her life. She was a very quiet bird and not prone to too many attacks on the furniture, fixtures and fittings (unlike Billie who will destroy anything that can be pulled apart with a beak!). Wherever she is, I hope she and my dear departed Dad are having a great laugh at the rest of us struggling away down here. I am asuming they have both gone up rather than down because they were both good souls and deserve to be relaxing on a cloud somewhere. I'm fairly convinced that I won't be heading that way, so I'll wave on my way down when I go!

Eric - February 1992 to April 2006 much loved and missed xx

Dad - May 19th 1931 to 20th December 1997 (I don't have words for this it is beyond anything I could express in words so I won't try except to say very much missed and loved)

It really is a difficult thing to get a grip on, this death thing. It is one of lifes little quirks that you haven't got a hope of understanding or coming to terms with, you just store it and work really hard at not letting it destroy you! I have always thought that it must be very comforting to have some kind of religeous faith to blindly believe in without question because that at least gives you some hope and reason.
Here endeth Tuesday's post - what did I tell you about it being crap - see even the blog got depressed!!!
Back soon with a happier post ..

Monday (morning)

Hi all you bloggets out there.
Well, here it is, Monday!
Sorry I haven't been back for a while, didn't have much to say (and still don't!) but I thought I would just say how great Monday morning is. Do you think I am being a little sarcastic? You may well be right. You just start to get used to the weekend, ready to do some serious relaxing and lounging about, then Wallop! Have a Monday morning! Well, no, I don't want it, why do I have to have it? It's not what I ordered. I ordered another Sunday morning! What happened to that then? Bugger! What do you mean I don't get a choice? Oh well, I suppose it's better than the alternative (not having one woud involve a certain amount of death and serious "not living") so, I guess I'll have it then! Thank you so much! The only thing it's got going for it is that it isn't Tuesday and Tuesday's really are nowhere! It's not Monday so you can't drift through on a fuzzy, unaware, hungover kind of tip, you have to be there for Tuesday. You can't avoid a Tuesday, you're awake, not too fuzzy and all the stuff you avoided Monday is waiting for you! It's not even the middle of the week like Wednesday, which you can at least say is on the way to Friday, no, there is nothing going for Tuesday whatsoever it is just crap! So, enjoy your Monday because Tuesday is coming and there's nothing you can do about it!
See ya later ..

The Gig

Well, I suppose as far as the punters go, it was a good night.
As far as the band go, it was a nightmare! For some reason, that shall remain a mystery, we got a lot of high frequency feedback at very low volumes, even the bass player! I have no idea what could have caused it, maybe an earthing loop or just really bad room accoustics, we may never know!
Hey ho, the people there enjoyed themselves, so I guess that makes it ok, as they are the reason for us playing. Nice bunch and up for a party.
Ain't it 'ot!! This is not right for September surely, all this humidity and stuff, it makes you sweat just thinking about getting up, never mind actually doing something!

The picture is of my little cockateil Billie.

She's a lovely lttle bird. I got her just after my other long time companion, Eric, died from old age and (of all things) gout! That was a very sad day and I won't go on about it too much but we were together, man and bird, for 14 years putting the World to rights. Eric was a female as well and the name came about because I had originally thought she was a male and named her from the Monty Python sketch involving all this blokes pets called Eric (and two pet pike both called Chris!). Anyway, I'm sure I've bored you stupid by now. I just wanted to mention Eric and of course, Billie as I'm sure those of you with pets of your own realise that they do become important to you and much loved as Eric was and Billie is. Right then that's all for now.

Back soon ..

Saturday

Hello blog
Haven't been back for a couple of days, been busy and tired, the latter being a direct result of the former!
Off to do a gig tonight with my favourite easy band Hang Loose. A very enjoyable little band and easy because we've been doing it for about 12 years now and not much has changed. songwise or personnelwise (I made both those words up I think?!). It's a good bluesy/souly/rocky band and we have a good laugh when we're all on form and we usually are because we all look forward to playing. It's a gig for the Freemasons (don't you know!) and they are usually up for some fun, so my hopes are high for a good night as we haven't played for a few weeks and everyone pays a bit more attention, so it sounds better!
I'll let you know how it went later ..

Thursday

Thursdays are good, I like Thursdays they're sooo nearly Friday and Fridays are spectacularly good (in a working week kind of way). Only half a day Fridays. Whoever thought that was a good idea should be knighted! Works ok really and I enjoy my work but I enjoy doing things when I want to, at a time that's well after 8 in the morning!
Not lazy (as such) but I stay up too late!
I love the middle of the night, no-one about, all is quiet (mostly) and it's restful. Some would say "go to bed you muppet!" and to a certain degree, they would be right, it is a lot quieter when you're asleep but then again, you don't know about it! That lie in in the morning is only ever any good if you've woken up and then gone back to sleep (or just layed there) and at least been aware of being able to go back to sleep. If you just wake up (later) then it's just not the same.
Right, that's enough of that sh*te. Sorry rambled a bit but then it is my blog and if you can't ramble in your own blog, then where can you? It's what me and a lot of my very dear and close friends do quite a bit, actually. Sitting up half the night, putting the World to rights, because, as you are probably already aware, if we ran the World, it would be just right. No more unhappy people everyone would have everything and no more sickness and lonelyness and poverty and biggots and peace and love would rule all . . . Like b*ll*cks!!! Can you imagine, if the World was run by the drunken couch philosophers in this World??
Still, it's good fun and mostly we're nice to everyone, except the really bad, horrible nasty people who get a right good telling off!!
Enough, enough I hear you screem. So, ok, I'll b*gger off for now.
Back soon ..

And another thing ..

I've just added a couple of links for The Giraffes of Prague and High Treason just to keep it all incestuous!
I'll see if I can add some musical content here later ..

Just a Quickie

Steve Irwin
What a shame, I know some didn't like him and some loved him but you cannot deny the mans enthusiasm for his subject and life itself!
That's the pity you see, not many people these days have that enthusiasm for much at all.
Bit of a sweeping generalisation, I know but it's true. Everything these days seems to be done with an "if I have to, I will" kind of feeling about it. We need more people with Steve's enthusiasm and zest for life, that would lift the spirits of a very fragile and nervous world and might even get people talking to each other accross the many boundaries out there.
Rest in peace young fella - there's a lot of entusiastic cloud hopping going on about now!!

I haven't got a clue

Hi anybody who happens upon this little blog.
As yet I have no idea what this will be but I'll try and keep it interesting!?
Well, interesting to me anyway :-)

I'm still a struggling 18 year old male musician at the age of 48 (things are a little slow).
I am in various bands with other more talented and better looking people but hey,
I am an excellent shag and make great coffee!

When I get a handle on this blogging stuff I'll add better content but for now this is all
I have. So, if you'll excuse the ramble and b*ll*cks I'll just keep typing 'till I'm bored!

the bands I am involved with are as follows (in no particular order) :

High Treason - Rock band with some interest amongst the younger leather jacket wearing and spottier males

Giraffes of Prague - Party band (not agadoo pleeeeez) playing covers and a few original songs.

Hang Loose - Blues/rocky-soul band doing entirely covers (who's entirely you ask? - me too).

Mussel Shell - Swamp rock band - if I had to pick a favourite, this would be it and all original material.

It would be very nice if any of these bands had some measure of success and maybe someday one will but hopefully not too much longer though as I will be dead and very anoyed if I'm not there to enjoy it!!

Anyway, I s'pose I ought to stop now until I work all this out and post something a little more interesting, maybe even pictures - woo hoo yeh yippee! I hear you all cry. (all, huh I bet I'm the only one who ever reads this sh*t!
